Model 12: Pavilion House

The inspiration for this weeks model comes from the Barcelona Pavilion by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. A fantastic modernist building using glass, extravegent materials and simple forms.

My building follows these same ideas. It makes use of multiple material finishes, including a large glass expanse. It has simple shaped spaces, split with clean straight walls. The surfaces focus on the horziontal and vertical planes, and all walls are 90 degrees from each other. There aren't any odd angles, just straight lines.

This weeks building includes a space that hasn't been in any previous buildings, a garage.

The only angles in the building come from the moving glass louvres that can be set to open up the space more.

The inside is laid out into 4 spaces. With one of them being a large on space connecting together all the other spaces.

The first space is the garage, which has a secondary space split off at the back. This secondary could be a utilty space or a workshop of some kind.

The next is the sleeping area. It arranged with a corridor with rooms off each side. On the left side is a large master bedroom with ensuite. A space is created behind the ensuite which is open to the rest of the building by a glass wall. It could be a small office space. On the other side of the corridor in the sleeping area is a first a large bathroom and then a guest or second bedroom at the end of the corridor.

The third space is the first of the living areas. Its made up of a large kitchen space and an equally large open dining or reception space. This space also opens out to a covered terrace. At the end is another space, made up of mostly glass walls. Its a fairly large space, it could be another larger office space or a home gym or some kind of sstudio space.

The final space is another living area. It extends the length of the building joining all the other spaces. It being open makes all the spaces flow together , making it more like one space.

If you also follow along on Instagram, twitter or the Facebook album you may have seen the teasers about the "content upgrade" idea i've had. Well here's another one. Worked out what the idea is yet...
