Been busy on and off recently so this ones taken a little while to finish off. In fact I finished the model last Friday but haven't had a chance to do the write up until now.
This is another idea straight out of my head. The sketch of this one wasn't as detailed, as I hadn't decided how exactly I wanted to finish it.
In the end the inspiration for the external finish came from beach groynes, I liked the different colours from the different planks weathering.
Also to tie back to the inspiration I added in stepped walls to replicate the steps of the beach groynes. Then to contrast the wood finish I decide to have solid white walls.
The vaulted space also floats off the ground and provides a cover to part of the deiveway below.
The first floor doesnt cover the whole of the ground floor so rather than just having a flat roof I made that area an extra garden space with a grass roof
The idea for the internal layout was quite simple. The ground floor would be a basic living space and then the first floor would be bedrooms, with the vaulted space being for the master bedroom.
The ground floor is quite simple in layout. There's a corridor from the front door that opens into the main living space which contains a living room and kitchen diner.
The living room is split from the kitchen diner by a wall across the back of the kitchen area. The wall still leaves a bigish opening between the living room and kitchen diner, so they still feel connected and make the whole space feel more open and free flowing.
The corridor leading to the living room is flanked on one side by a small powder room and on the other by the staircase to the first floor.
The first floor is split into more seperate spaces. It contains the bedrooms, bathroom and a study. All the rooms are fed by a single corridor coming off the landing.
The staircase comes onto a landing that wraps around it and gives access to the roof garden. A corridor off of the landing lead to all the rooms.
The first room along the corridor is the bathroom, which serves both of the bedrooms.
At the end of the first part of the corridor is the first bedroom.
This bedroom is also at the start of the vaulted roof and benefits from extra light coming in from the glass faced end. The corridor also benefits too.
At the first bedroom the corridor turns 90 degrees and then continues to the other rooms, first a study and then finishes infront of the master bedroom.
The master bedroom gets extra high ceilings being in the vaulted space and also recieves light from both sides from slit windows.
The build video is a shorter one this time as this model came together fairly quickly. That also makes the fact its taken over a month to do seem a bit more stupid but o well life happens, things come up. It's done now though and so here it is, enjoy.
Also so far I've been using music from my iTunes to tie in with what i'd been listening to during the build but youtube doesn't really like that. It lets me do it but it comes up with a third party content warning every time, it's no big deal but sometimes it restricts the video. If anyones got suggestion on some easily loopable (as the length of the videos can vary and sometimes go on rather) generic music that I could use that would be welcome.
